Email Auto-forwarding
Learn how to set up auto-forwarding for your personal email to receive newsletters in Drippp
You might not want to use your @drippp.email address to subscribe to newsletters directly.
This could be for numerous reasons:
- You already have a lot of subscriptions using your personal email address.
- You want to keep using your personal email for your Substack (or similar) account.
- You simply do not want to share your
@drippp.emailaddress to avoid spam.
Whatever the reason is, you can set up auto-forwarding for your personal email to receive newsletters in Drippp.
How to set up email auto-forwarding
The process is not complex, but it does vary depending on the email provider you are using.
At a high level, you will need to do 2 things:
- Add your
@drippp.emailaddress as a verified forwarding address for your personal email address. - Set up filter rules to determine which emails should be forwarded to your
@drippp.emailaddress.
Let's go over the process for some of the most popular email providers.
Gmail
Add verified forwarding address
In your browser, open Gmail.
Sign in to the account where you want to forward messages from.
In the top right, click Settings > See all settings.
Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP or Forwarding tab.
In the "Forwarding" section, click Add a forwarding address.
Enter the
@drippp.emailaddress you want to forward messages to.Click Next and then Proceed and then OK.
- A verification message is sent to the
@drippp.emailaddress. - Drippp will detect these emails and forward them to you.
Note
If you do not receive the verification email within a few minutes, please check your Drippp inbox.
- A verification message is sent to the
Click the verification link in the email.
Return to the "Settings" page in Gmail.
Refresh your browser.
Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP or Forwarding tab.
In the "Forwarding" section, make sure the Disable forwarding option is selected.
Note
This will prevent Gmail from forwarding all your emails to your
@drippp.emailaddress.At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
Next, you'll need to set up filter rules to determine which emails should be forwarded to your @drippp.email address.
Set up filter rules
Note
You don't want to forward all emails to your @drippp.email address. Only your newsletter emails.
There are multiple ways to set up filter rules.
Using Gmail's filters in settings
- From within Gmail, click on the Settings gear icon in the top right, then select See all settings.
- Click the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
- Click Create a new filter.
- Fill in your filter criteria.
- Eg. In the "From" field, enter
substack.comto forward all emails from Substack. - You can make this as specific or as generic as you want.
- Gmail allows advanced search criteria.
- Eg. In the "From" field, enter
- (Optional) If you want to make sure the filter matches the correct emails, you can first click Search to see if any emails are returned.
- Click Create filter.
Next, you'll be asked to what to do with the emails that match the filter.
- Select Forward it to and enter your
@drippp.emailaddress. - (Recommended but optional) Select the Skip the Inbox (Archive it) checkbox.
- This will ensure that you don't receive duplicate emails in your inbox, but will still allow you to find them in your archive.
- Click Create filter.

Recommendations
- Try to set up generic filters to match as many newsletter emails as possible, so you don't have to set up too many filters.
- Eg. for Substack, you can add
substack.comas the "From" criteria to match any Substack newsletter. The same can be applied to other platforms, like beehiiv; you can addbeehiiv.com. - Drippp will identify emails that require your immediate attention and forward them to your inbox.
